Aim high and help us help flood-ravaged Queensland
Anaconda is joining the effort to assist Queenslanders affected by three weeks of shocking floods, and we’re asking our customers to get involved by getting some adrenaline pumping.
Our rock-climbing pinnacles are an indoor favourite of outdoor types, and we’ll be donating $2 from every pinnacle climb made in our stores Australia-wide in January to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal. You can read more about the pinnacles here.
The full extent of the disaster in Queensland won’t be known for some time, with over 75 per cent of the state declared a natural disaster zone.
Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said on Thursday that 70 towns and cities were now affected, “either because they have been inundated themselves or they have been cut off from major supplies lines and isolated for weeks”.
Towns such as Goondiwindi and Condamine are still on high alert, while receding water levels in areas such as Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley have revealed scenes of utter devastation.
The floods have claimed lives and inundated thousands of homes and businesses. Crucial infrastructure has been ruined. Thousands have lost their homes, their possessions, their livelihoods.
Watch this space – we’ll be announcing more relief efforts shortly.
Please make a donation directly to the disaster appeal online or by phone (from 6am to 11pm daily) on 1800 219 028.
