Adventure Race in Lorne

The final race in the Anaconda Adventure Race series will decide the title in the open men’s and opens women’s categories tomorrow as close to 1200 athletes compete at the Lorne Anaconda Adventure Race.


Sunday’s tough 57 km swim, paddle, run and cycle will see athletes of all backgrounds flooding to the to the beautiful Surf Coast resort town. Former surf ironman legend turned adventure racer Guy Andrews will be joined by well known ex‐AFL stars Richie Vandenberg (Hawthorn), Jason Johnson (Essendon) and Mark Bolton (Essendon) will compete along side this record field.

Andrews as well as the ex‐AFL stars add to the most competitive men’s field ever with previous winners Jarad Kohlar (Port Melbourne)and Grant Suckling (Geelong) also racing for the silverware and the title of 2010 Anaconda Adventure Race Series Champion. The two top women in the Anaconda Adventure Race Series, Kim Beckinsale and Deanna Blegg are also fighting it out for the title at Lorne.

In its sixth year in Lorne, VIC the Anaconda Adventure Race course is set to again challenge even the most experienced athletes as they cover a challenging 57km coastal and off‐road course. The Anaconda Adventure Race, starts at 8am on Sunday 5th December at the Lorne Pier. Competitors will tackle a 1.9km swim across Loutit bay, 13 km paddle on ocean skis out towards the southern ocean, a 14km run through the inland Otways rainforest and waterfalls, then a 24km mountain bike through the forest with a steep descent back to the coast finishing with a 1.5km run along the foreshore to the finish line.

Expect to see Australia’s best Adventure and multi‐sport athletes competing alongside some of Australia’s best knows ex‐AFL sporting stars on some of Victoria’s most spectacular coastline and rainforest environments this weekend.
